Anti-Monkey Butt Powder and Other Cool Products to Beat the Heat
Extreme temperatures call for extreme measures and whether you attempt to ward off the sizzling summer heat that's travelled across the nation, or are fighting in a desert climate such as Afghanistan, sweat that builds up with no relief can be irritating. And, what’s worse is not having a solution to the problem.
When the skin sweats in the hidden places of our bodies: under the breasts, between the thighs, in the butt crack, it builds up moisture and creates friction. The result is skin breakdown-first pink, and if left unattended, red. Before you know it you end up with a full blown ‘diaper rash’, without the diaper of course.

Got Monkey Butt?
So, what’s a person to do? Use Anti-Monkey Butt. I heard of this product on a morning talk show and was so intrigued by its name that I had to check it out. Anti-Monkey Butt has a cool website: www.antimonkeybutt.com with testimonials, Q & A’s and interesting videos.
When I heard its catchy name I couldn’t help but laugh and wondered what the heck it was. What I later found out is that the makers of the powder are a couple of guys who experienced this dilemma from many hours on their bikes. They had unsuccessfully tried other products to get rid of their red, chafed skin. Their recourse was to discover, through trial and error, what worked to keep the irritation away.
For anyone familiar with the effects of a baby’s wet bottom and diaper rash they are also aware of how protective the talc is on wet skin. The calamine lotion is a standby for summer against all sorts of maladies, like bug bites. It soothes and cools the irritated area. That is why this combination was such a winning product.
What I discovered on their website is even more appealing. The company has agreed to donate $1 to the Veteran Outdoors Program for every bottle that is purchased between May 2 and September 30, 2011, AND they will also send a bottle to a soldier for free. That means we have just two months left to support their generosity. By the way, Anti-Monkey Butt powder can now be found at Walgreen’s Drugstores here in the United States so there is no excuse.

Cool Undies by Jockey
Jockey has made claim that by wearing their brand of ‘Stay Cool’ clothing there will be a 3 degree difference due to the thermocules that are implanted into the clothing. When I found a video that offered to explain it more completely it sounded very scientific and researched. Advertising being what it is, this ‘proof of evidence’ approach may be misleading. However, I believe there is credence to the ‘Stay Cool’ brand.
Certain fabrics certainly hold less heat than others, such as linen, silk, or cotton. And, other clothing manufacturers, like Columbia, have been creating ‘cool wear’ for years. So, I would wear the Jockey ‘Stay Cool’ underwear myself on those scorching days. Heck, 3 degrees cooler can make all the difference in the world. See what you think by checking out the video.
Columbia covers it all
Columbia Sportswear has been in existence for over 70 years, first as a hat store, and later incorporating additional pieces of clothing. Now, it is an international company and their customers include both genders and all ages.
No matter what your sport, or what season, Columbia has you covered-literally. From shoes to jackets and hats, to shirts and shorts, Columbia uses a technology that enhances the construction of the fabric creating a product that adapts to the environmental elements of heat and water.
With their ‘Omni-Freeze’ material, sports enthusiasts can stay cooler longer and enjoy the outdoor activity without the inconvenience of feeling wet from sweat. There is also Omni-Dry which protects one from moisture. Check out their website to read all of the exciting things they are involved in: www.columbia.com
Loose and Layered
Here are two tips about wearing summer clothing: loose and layered. First, no tight clothes that squeeze the skin-allow a flowing feel to your wardrobe. Remove the waist belt that confines. Instead, let a long necklace hang loosely from your neck to add to the sense of flow.
Second, a woman can maintain a chic, but cool presentation in the office by layering a sheer blouse over a sleeveless or spaghetti strap top. Stay barelegged under long skirts or pants. Or, try the reverse-hike up a long skirt to the side allowing one leg freedom and a path for the breeze to circulate around your legs.
Wearing light colored clothing repels the heat and choose your material carefully. Seersucker is great in the summer, as is light weight cotton and linen. Also, a bra liner can help to absorb moisture from perspiration keeping it off your clothing and away from your skin.
Cool those dogs!
Feet swell in the heat. To help soothe and keep those dogs cool place foot inserts into your shoes. Summer soles are one brand that does this job effectively, but there are others on the market as well, such as the Dr. Scholl’s massaging gel inserts. Silver Linings are another brand that will help to cool your feet during the hot summer days.
Massage those babies with a cool lotion of peppermint, (refreshing), or lavender. Lavender Hill sells many massage products such as oils and lotions. www.lavenderhillcc.com Or, go to your local drugstore for products that have cucumber, lavender, or mint to relax and freshen your skin.
Remember: fashion and health don't have to be compromised during a heat wave. While temperatures sizzle you will keep your cool while looking hot!
